Colorado

I crossed the state line of Colorado this morning. I stopped at Old Town, but it was not opened.

The only ones that were busy there, was some rabbits. One that seemed to enjoy getting his picture taken.I continued on to Colorado Springs, then down to Fountain, to Camping World. I had broke the table pedestal in the DogHouse. They had one and was installed. I cannot believe how large the Springs grew, since I lived there. Unbelievable!Through Manitou Springs, up past the town of Divide. My mind is made up, I am going over Independence Pass. It is the only way over the Rockies, that is worth seeing the scenery. But it does have 700 ft drop, no guardrails, and best of all, one lane in parts (biggest usually wins!).

Aspen was packed with tourists, and was glad to leave. I was anxious to get to Carbondale, where I also lived. Again a huge disappointment to see how commercialized, and how big it grew. No longer pristine, a big difference from my youth.

But Mt. Sopris was as majestic as ever! I think it is one of the most beautiful mountains there is! Plus the Redstone canyon is just the icing!

I drove to Rifle, and camped at the KOA campground near there.

  1. NICE PICTURES, Dohm. You seem well prepared for cross country travel. I love the camper and the whole setup you have. Have a good safe trip. Wish I was there. ps Does the camper have A/C?
